What are its best features?
Despite the drone having such a huge amount of different amazing features, the FPV aspect is second to none. Being able to experience every journey with this perspective through high-quality goggles is the next step in drone technology, and it's worth buying this drone for that feature alone.
What could be improved?
Unfortunately, because DJI has added so many safety features to the drone, its motors are just a little bit less powerful than you might like, and the battery makes the drone a little less nimble than you might be used to if you built your own drone previously to work with FPV.
The DJI FPV Drone Combo is a slick drone offering everything you could want for a drone under 2000. It has FPV goggles giving you first-row seats to every epic drone ride you pilot. Steady EIS and 4K video plus 48MP photo capacity make it super easy to get fantastic shots and footage. Three flying modes and an emergency brake and hover capability only add to the endless creativity you can have with this fantastic drone.
Consumers will be pleased with the obstacle detection features, 20 minute flight time, and great 6.2-mile range, giving you tons of time to enjoy a great flight knowing your air vehicle is able to avoid a collision.
The DJI FPV is the first FPV drone to be released by DJI, breaking new ground in this popular new type of drone. FPV (First Person View) is immersive and adds a completely new angle to drone flying, effectively allowing you to experience the ride along with the unmanned air vehicle without actually being up there with it physically. Users who want to get stuck into new technology truly will appreciate the FPV capability of this drone, particularly the drone drag racing aspect, ahead of non-FPV drones.

What do we love it for?
One of the most impressive features of the Mavic Air original is the 32 MP sphere panorama which connects various images taken by the drone to create one absolutely incredible panorama. We love that the Mavic Air 2 does the same thing, but with HDR, so the panorama is absolutely breathtaking because it has such an enhanced dynamic range.
What were we disappointed with?
The return home feature of the drone is better than previous or comparable models, but it can still get lost if there are obstacles or lots of features in your surroundings, such as trees or houses. Realistically, it's accurate within about fifteen feet of where it should return, so it's best to return it to a safe and open area away from traffic.
The DJI Mavic Air 2 Drone Fly More Combo is a premium drone package that is highly portable and nimble. This is the best drone under $2000 with camera we could find. For the price, you get a lot for your money, including a comfortable and simple controller, 48MP photo and 4K video capacity, obstacle avoidance, 8K hyper-lapse, and GPS auto-return – to name just a few included features.
Is it the best drone with a camera? Maybe! Consumers will love the 6.2-mile range and fantastic 34 minute flight time capability. So you can truly utilize the massive photo and video package on offer here with extended flights, aided by the various intelligent flight modes like FocusTrack, Spotlight 2.0, and Active Track 3.0.
The Mavic Air 2 comes after the original Mavic Air, beating it in various areas of performance. The camera of the Mavic Air 2 is bigger and of higher quality, similar to today’s best smartphone camera capabilities. You can also take more images. The Mavic Air 2 also has a higher ISO range, uses Smartphoto (which wasn’t available with the original Mavic Air), adds HDR to the 32 MP sphere panorama, and even improves the higher frame and bit rate for videos. These are just some examples of the exceptional boost in the overall performance of the Mavic Air with the 2 compared to the original.

What makes it stand out?
You can't really beat the exceptional half an hour flight time per battery for the price of this drone. It's fantastic value and has a better battery time than many comparable products on the market. Every minute flying a drone is a minute more fun, making the Ruki F11Gim drone an excellent choice for those wanting a real flight session every time they take their kit out.
Which disadvantages must you keep in mind?
Despite its small size, the drone is a little bulky and heavy. That limits its portability in terms of weight and also means it isn't so nifty in the air. The drone also has no obstacle detection, which we feel is essential for any modern drone, especially one that entry-level quadcopter enthusiasts (more likely to crash the drone) will buy.
The Ruko F11Gim Drone is a foldable, medium-sized drone that has a standout feature, which is its mechanical gimbal plus electric image stabilization. This is combined with a 4K camera and 4K video, 5G FPV transmission, easy controls, and GPS-assisted features. For the price, this is phenomenal value for money, giving you the ability to take fantastic shots from the air easily.
Those investing in this great piece of kit will particularly love the exceptional flight time provided by the double battery inclusion in the package. They allow a total flight time of 56 minutes (28 minutes per battery), giving you tons of time for fun, and making the most of the various tricks and features this great drone offers.
The features and price of the quadcopter make it a great entry-level drone. It’s really easy to fly, gives you tons of time to practice (due to the double battery inclusion), and it’s incredibly portable because it is so small. Despite the size, it also offers some great features like the mechanical gimbal and various flight modes. It’s a lot of value for the price and size, making it a good choice if you’re hoping to get into drones without committing too many dollars. If you’re slightly tempted by the cheaper sibling of the Ruko, the Ruko U11, it is worth noting that the upgrades you get for the extra dollars paid for the Ruko F11Gim are well worth that extra squeeze.

What makes it special?
We really appreciated just how portable the DJI Mini really is. At 8.8 ounces, you know the drone itself will be small and lightweight. However, for the high-quality bag and stuffing, all the Combo extras and control to be so light and easily transported as a package is an absolute dream when you like to get about with your drone. It's especially useful if you travel across difficult or lengthy terrain to get more unusual shots.
What cons did we find?
It would be helpful to browse the settings on the app without a drone connection rather than having to have the drone powered on for this process to happen. We also felt disappointed that the drone has no obstacle avoidance, which is not included because of its weight, but hopefully, it will appear in smaller drones in the future.
The DJI Mini 2 Fly More Combo Drone is an incredibly portable and compact drone that can be easily transported to different locations, including all the accessories and bag padding. Despite it being so lightweight, the flying isn’t impacted at all, and it’s really sturdy, especially if you crash it whilst you’re learning the ropes. Despite its compact size, the drone is also packed full of great features, including 31-minute battery life, 12MP photos and 4K videos (which even stand up to low light shooting), and a handy guidance app and setup from DJI.
Consumers will particularly love that the drone weight and size make it unnecessary to register it as a hobbyist drone in some countries, so you don’t even have to wait to get flying it from the off.
The DJI Mini 2 Fly More can be compared to the Mavic Mini, which is in a similar price range and offers identical portability features. The great thing is that the DJI Mini essentially provides all the benefits of the Mavic Mini, but with better specs. It has better video resolution, has 4x digital zoom, supports JPEG and RAw (Mavic mini only supports JPEG), and has the addition of now having built-in OcuSync 2.0. It’s all-around, a much better portable mini drone than the Mavic.

What makes it stand out?
As a starter drone for adults, the Parrot ANAFI is easy to get to grips with, and we loved how the photo and video features made it achievable for even the least experienced drone owner to get some great shots. The portability and weight of the drone are also convenient for taking out into less-easy-to-reach nature spots.
Which disadvantages must you keep in mind?
It's off-putting to have to pay extra for drone features that could just be included in the drone as part of the package. Overall, the drone is also less nimble and easy to fly than a beginner might like. Other starter drones for adults are better designed for inexperienced user.
The Parrot ANAFI is a fantastic adult starter drone giving you a great selection of features for a great price. 2.8 digital zoom camera capabilities with a 180-degree vertical tiled gimbal, 4K HDR videos, 21 MP photos, and good 25 minutes of battery time are all great features for anybody looking to get into the quadcopter world without investing too much.
Those new to drones will particularly appreciate the fact that the drone is generally relatively easy to use and has some great modes to play with, such as slow-motion, ‘Follow-me’ (available for an in-app upgrade), and it can be easily folded for travel too, so taking it out for a flight is easy.
The Parrot ANAFI can be compared to the DJI Mavic Air, which is also a compact drone similar in size and physical capabilities. However, the Parrot ANAFI is not as smooth a ride, is not as easily folded or compact, and because it is lighter than the DJI Mavic is harder to fly in windy conditions. Despite these more negative comparisons, the Parrot ANAFI does have some great photo and video capabilities for its price that you’re unlikely to find in other drones in the same price bracket and at the same size.

What are its best features?
There are lots of really great features to the SYMA X500 drone. The double 28 minute batteries give plenty of fun flight time, which is brilliant when you're getting stuck into learning the ropes. It also only takes three hours to recharge them, which is one of the fastest battery charge times on the market. We also really liked that the lens can be adjusted, though, so the images you do take can capture various angles.
What could be improved?
Those looking for the best drone with a camera may feel misled by the drone's description. The X500 is listed as having a 4K camera which isn't entirely accurate. The camera can shoot still images in 4K, but the videos are actually 1080P, which is fair, but the resulting footage isn't professional in any way, shape, or form.
Despite its low price, the SYMA X500 4K foldable Drone isn’t missing any essential features and packs a lot into its small 8.8-ounce frame. GPS Auto return, object trace & custom path, HD camera, eco-friendly controller, optical sensor, follow-me mode, 350-meter range, and a high-quality brush motor are all included at a bargain price. Consumers will especially love that this affordable drone offers 28 minutes per battery, and you get two with the drone, giving you an impressive 56 minutes potential fly time (and fun time).
The SYMA X500 is an excellent drone choice for consumers on a budget because you get so many great features at such a low price. The flight time is great; there are flight modes to play with, the camera is fine, and it’s foldable and portable. Compared to other drones in this price bracket, it’s offering a lot for the price tag.

Why did it make our list?
You can't beat the incredible price of the drone and the features you get for that price. It's an ideal starter drone for kids (under supervision) because it is stable, has a great FPV range, looks excellent, takes really nice footage, and has useful safety features that make it hard to lose. The 8D flips are also a fantastic touch.
What is not ideal about it?
We felt that the charging time for the batteries at 4.5 hours is too long and should be shortened to match competitors on the market.
The DEERC DE22 Pro Drone is a great drone within its price range, offering some great features that make it fun to fly. To start, it comes with over 50 minutes of battery time (split between two batteries), so you’re all set for plenty of flight time fun right away. The controller is also well-designed and easy to use, enabling you to see flight statistics easily. FPV is also available via the smartphone app. Other great features include; foldability, brushless motors, a durable shell, detailed user manual, level 7-wind resistance, 4K photo, and video, a 2-axis gimbal, and EIC (Electronic Image Stabilization) – to name a few.
The DEERC DE22 can be compared to the DEERC D20 mini drone, which is lighter, has various features like a 720P HD camera, FPV transmission, and 3D flips. Everything the DEERC D20 mini does, though, the DEERC DE22 does better. Instead of 3D flips, it does 8D flips; instead of a 720P HD camera, it is 4K – and so the list goes on. For the extra price, you get everything you get with the mini, but better.
To help you choose the very best drone for your needs, we’ve created this handy buying guide so that you know exactly what to look for and consider before making this exciting purchase:
What Affects the Drone Prices?
There are all kinds of different factors that affect drone prices, and understanding those factors lets you know what good value is in your budget price bracket.
Here are some of the main factors affecting drone prices:
The different price brackets – cheap drones at under 100 dollars, medium drones at around 1000 dollars, and then professional drones are going into the $1000’s. The features and quality of the drone will dictate which price bracket it falls into.
The ongoing care – the initial drone price should also be considered alongside the ongoing care and costs. Some drones require in-app enhancements, extra accessories, and perhaps expensive repairs to get the most out of them.
Specs – camera features, FPV, build quality, battery life, range, weight, and other specs will drastically affect the price of a drone.
Motors – motors make the drone move, so they are significant. You need four great motors for a quadcopter, but if you opt for a hexacopter or octocopter, you will pay more for those extra motors.
Registration – drones past a certain weight need to be registered with the CAA Civil Aviation Authority in America. This process can be costly and can push up the price of a drone.
New technology such as FPV (First Person View) can also affect drone prices, which was previously only really accessible to hobby drone builders. This cutting-edge technology, though, is now in all the latest drones like the DJI FPV Drone Combo and relates to the quickly growing drone drag racing craze. Now, you can get high-quality goggles to watch your FPV drone in action in high resolution.
So that FPV technology in ready-to-buy format is desired in the latest drones, consumers will pay more for it, and it will also make drones without it cheaper.
How to Choose the Best Drone
Choosing the best drone ultimately comes down to your personal preference and the reason for getting the drone. However, there are aspects of every drone that you should consider, so you know that you’re getting good value for money, and they are:
Controls
Parrot ANAFI Drone is less than $700 but has many necessary intelligent functions.
You ideally want easy-to-use controls if you are a beginner, or this is your first ‘proper’ drone, like the controls that come with the Parrot ANAFI Drone. This includes not too many functions, a lack of complex language or jargon, responsive controls, and great tracking information.
Obstacle Avoidance
Obstacle avoidance doesn’t always come with the drone, particularly with lighter models that are being sold under that all-important registration weight (this is because the feature adds weight to the build). Whilst this won’t be such an issue if you don’t do too much long-range flying or inner-city flying, it could be a real issue if you do.
Even more so, if you’re a beginner who is likely to crash the drone, you really do need some sort of obstacle avoidance to help avoid those take-downs.
Make sure you double-check even the most premium drones, as they may cut this feature to meet minimal weight standards. The DJI Mini 2 is a good example of this.
Sensors
Sensors are important for drones and relate to much of their flying capabilities. There are air pressure sensors, barometric pressure sensors, obstacle sensors, and more. Essentially, the more sensors a drone has, the more information it has to do a better job at flying and functioning. If you’re buying a drone for photo and video, air pressure sensors are particularly important as they allow the drone to hover with precision for extra stable footage and minimal image blurring.
Modes
The modes of a drone are all the different ways you can make the drone move and operate. At the very least, your drone should have a good manual mode, arcade mode, and automatic mode. For more advanced drones, you can expect modes like fly-by-camera, Followme mode, Follow My Path, First Person View, Auto Return, Loiter, and Altitude Hold mode. Beginners don’t need fancy modes (although they are a novelty), but anybody looking to do professional vlogs or marketing videos will need more advanced modes to get the best shots.
Brushless Motors
Brushless motors are the standard for any modern drone and are superior to brushed motors in their durability, efficiency, and performance. This is a feature you should expect with any modern drone.
Batteries
The most commonly-used battery technologies in drones are lithium-based, as they have a higher energy density than the older nickel-based technologies.
Drone batteries should give you at least 15 minutes of flight time, but many go up to about 28 minutes, which translates to about 20 minutes of real-life flying. The SYMA X500 and the Ruko F11 both come with two batteries, offering nearly an hour of flight time in total.
In addition, you need to be aware of the charge time for the batteries. Some batteries, like the DEERC Drone, can take over four hours to recharge, which is far beyond the more accepted 90-minute industry standard charge time for drones. Keep a lookout for battery charge time when you buy your drone to check that it doesn’t drastically limit how much fun you can have in any one day with your drone because it’s stuck in the dock.
What’s More Important?
The most important thing is to check each section gives you the best possible value in your budget range. It isn’t always a ‘more is better’ situation with drones because you may get one that does everything badly compared to another that does a few things really well. Value for money comes with well-designed quality materials and functionality.
You can get the best drone for the money – really high-quality drones – for less than $100, and definitely for well under 2000 dollars. The market is competitive enough now that drones in different budget brackets offer a lot at a good level of quality for the price.
Of our recommended drones, we feel the Ruko F11 is the best value drone and best drone for the money because it is portable, easy to fly, and has some great features for the price. If you’re looking for the cream of the crop, though, you can’t beat a DJI drone like the DJI FPV because DJI is the drone industry leader with a company last valued at $15 billion in 2018
Trusted SourceFrank Wang | ForbesThe world’s first drone billionaire, Frank Wang is founder and CEO of DJI, the biggest seller of consumer drones.

. They always seem to be coming out with the very latest drone technology, offering exceptional features for the money.
Drones are very much like cars in that they are almost decreasing in value from the moment you buy them. This is because new technology is always being developed, and your drone will not gain value as it ages. When it comes to fun, boosting your social media content, learning new skills, and potentially even gaining a new career, though, drones certainly are a great investment.
Our Verdict
When it comes to our seven best drones under 2000, the DJI FPV is the most exciting new drone technology, which is why it is our Editors Choice.
